Report on Para-Legal Training Workshop

Bege Foundation partnered in an European Union (EU) funded project tagged Instrument Contributing to Stability and Peace (ICSP/2015/359-478) along with Center for Peace and Advancement in Nigeria (CEPAN) and Associazione Apurimac Onlus as the lead implementing organization in Jos Plateau State.

The European Union “Instrument Contributing to Stability and Peace” from the project “state and non-state actors cooperation in consolidating an architecture of peace in greater Jos” has the over roll objective to contribute to the peace process in Plateau State by consolidating support in strengthening architecture of peace and mechanisms of conflict resolution specifically, the project aims to reduce the causes of the conflict through both an increased participation of citizens in mediation, dialogue and peace building; and through a strategy of job creation for youth and women.

The action is aimed to build on results achieved in the Instrument for Stability (IFS) phase 1 which led to the extension of the project under the instrument Contributing to Stability and Peace (ICSP) phase 2 that is been implemented in six (6) Local Government Areas (Jos North, Jos South, Riyom, Barkin-Ladi, Mikang, and Mangu) in Plateau State.

As part of the aforementioned project, Bege Foundation carried out a three days Paralegal Trainings for 180 persons in the 6 Local Government Areas in Plateau State. The trainings are meant to equip people at the community with understanding of basic fundamental human rights and affiliate them with renowned human rights protection institutions where they can report right violation cases when they occur.
